Through the evening
Forecast hour by hour. The published level is the worst hour between 5:30 PM and 8:00 PM — cold gets worse after sunset, so the 5:30 reading alone would under-call a winter evening for the later group.

The rulebook
Every night's level comes straight off the published U.S. Soccer charts — here they are in full.
Tennessee Soccer Academy follows the U.S. Soccer heat and cold weather guidelines. Tennessee is in Region Category 3. Coaches follow the alert level shown here for their facility — the work-to-rest ratio is not optional.
Tennessee is in Region Category 3 of the U.S. Soccer regional heat map. WBGT is estimated from air temperature and humidity using the same approximation the U.S. Soccer lookup table is built from. That approximation is stated to be valid for full sunshine, so we scale it by the measured sunlight at the hour in question: in full sun the number is exactly the U.S. Soccer chart value, and after sunset it falls to the shade reading the chart cannot express. Both figures are shown in the hourly table.
| Alert level | Threshold | Conditions | Required action |
|---|---|---|---|
| BLACK | >92.0 °F | Extreme Conditions | No outdoor training. Delay training until cooler, or cancel training. |
| RED | 90.1-91.9 °F | High Risk for Heat Related Illness | Maximum of 1 hour of training with 4 separate 4-minute breaks within the hour. No additional conditioning allowed. |
| ORANGE | 87.1-90.0 °F | Moderate Risk for Heat Related Illness | Maximum of 2 hours of training with 4 separate 4-minute breaks each hour, OR a 10-minute break every 30 minutes of training. |
| YELLOW | 82.2-87.0 °F | Less than Ideal Conditions | 3 separate 4-minute breaks each hour, OR a 12-minute break every 40 minutes of training. |
| GREEN | <82.1 °F | Good Conditions | Normal activities. 3 separate 3-minute breaks each hour of training, OR a 10-minute break every 40 minutes. |
One national table; there are no regional categories for cold.
| Alert level | Threshold | Conditions | Required action |
|---|---|---|---|
| BLACK | <0 °F | Extreme Conditions | Cancel, or attempt to move activities indoors. Frostbite could occur. |
| RED | 1-15 °F | High Risk for Cold Related Illness | Consider modifying activity to limit exposure and allow for more frequent chances to rewarm. |
| ORANGE | 16-24 °F | Moderate Risk for Cold Related Illness | Provide additional protective clothing, cover as much exposed skin as practical, and provide opportunities and facilities for rewarming. |
| YELLOW | 25-30 °F | Less than Ideal Conditions | Be aware of the potential for cold injury and notify appropriate personnel of the potential. |
| GREEN | >30 °F | Good Conditions | Normal activities. |
In wet conditions these risks are accelerated. Use additional caution to recognise potential cold injuries.
If thunder is heard or lightning is seen, go to your car IMMEDIATELY and stay there until you are notified that it is safe to return. If games are cancelled, that will be communicated through approved club communications.
Lightning is not part of the U.S. Soccer heat or cold tables. Do not wait for this page: a cancellation reaches you through approved club communications.
This page is a forecast-based advisory, published at 2:30 PM CT for the 5:30–8:00 PM training window. U.S. Soccer recommends measuring WBGT on site at the time of training. A reading taken at the field always governs.
